Hello World

What a long couple of weeks there. Good ones, just busy. I just finished first round of edits for Banished, so it was well worth it. I can’t wait to share this with everyone. It’s a darker side of Daye for sure and I’m really proud of it. I think it started as last year’s nano project, then of course I moved midway through so I had to finish it up later in the year. Looking back this year, I’ve finished Banished and In Chains, written Crushed, Little Red, and am halfway done with Renegade. It’s been a productive year!

My plans right now? I’m working on an indie book for Nano this year. My first attempt at doing it all on my own. Wish me luck! I have also written under my YA pen(Emma Bloom) this year too. 303 Red Dead Lane was a compilation with Jordan Deen and Elizabeth Sharp. The exciting part about this book is that all proceeds are being donated to a Domestic Violence Awareness charity. I’m also almost finished with my first draft of Haunted Echoes:Spirited Book 1.

Here’s to hoping I continue to be prolific the rest of the year.

Authors: Jordan Deen, Elizabeth Sharp, Emma Bloom

Type: Standalone

Genre: Young Adult Horror

Cover Design: Sharp Covers

Evil has a new address…

For over a century, evil has dwelled in the house on Red Lane, or Red Dead Lane as the locals call it. As one family after another meets with misfortune inside the aging
Victorian, it has fallen into disrepair. Forgotten. Waiting.

When the Maxwell family moved in, they were running from a long string of bad decisions. But their hope is quickly squashed by the evil. When police are summoned one summer night, all they find is violence and mysteries. Can they figure it out before the house kills again?

The Prestons hoped some distance would help their teenage daughter find her way out of trouble, but instead they wound up heaping it on. When a horrific crime leaves a fifteen year old girl facing a prison sentence, the truth can only make things worse for her.

The Lewis family made their living buying and restoring houses, but the sprawling manor house just might push them to their limit. Can they overcome the evil that has taken so many before them, or will they just be the latest victims.

Elizabeth Sharp

Elizabeth Sharp
Elizabeth has a near crippling Facebook addiction, dwarfed only by her need for Dr. Pepper. A self-proclaimed techno geek, she loves cell phones, computers, tablets and all things technological. The internet has to be the greatest invention since the wheel, in her opinion. She lives in a quiet subdivision with her husband, one-year-old son, three cats, and far too many electronics. It’s quite possible she has some raccoon in her DNA, because she loves glitter and anything that sparkles. She enjoys making jewelry and costumes. Halloween is her favorite holiday since it’s the one day of the year that you can be whatever you want. But her first love will always be writing. Otherwise, hearing voices in her head would make her feel schizophrenic.

Big Plans for the Week

Hi everyone!

Sorry I haven’t been around as much lately. Life unexpectedly made me a back seat driver. No worries though, everything is a-ok. This week I have some massive goals….the first of which would be to try to finish Renegade as much as possible. Then I have to plan what I’m doing next. I know I will be getting edits from Banished sometime soon-ish. I had hoped to release it this month, but it might not be out until next month. That’s ok. It’s something to be Thankful for!

So, did I even touch base with you from Penned Con? I’m still all starry-eyed from the event. My dream has always been small, keep in a tiny bubble so disappointment wouldn’t distract me. But you see, I listened to some amazing key note speakers that made me realize that the stars are possible if you refuse to let go of them. So I’m going to lasso some stars and make a new dream to be bigger than I ever thought I could be.

It will happen; it is happening. You see, I have this amazing street team who are really working hard to get my name out there so I can focus on the writing part of this job. I am not kidding when I say how much I appreciate them. I can never thank them enough really. Their belief in me is propelling me forward with less fear of failure every single day.

Ok, so of special note this week, I wanted to let you know that my PA Michele’s birthday is this weekend and I am thrilled that I can offer The Land of the Shadows free this weekend to celebrate. If you haven’t downloaded your copy yet, feel free to do so this weekend at:

Well, Au Revoir for now my friends and see you real soon!

Joann H. Buchanan Shines

Title: Shine

Author: Joann Buchanan

Release Date: September 2, 2014

Genre: Paranormal Romance

After that, I took the memory card from my camera

and put it into the computer to pull up the images. One by one they came up. First were the pictures of

the small trees with the beautiful yellow hues of light sparkling behind them. Across the sky, grey clouds

formed and rays of light shined through them. I flipped through the photos, taking a quick look at all of

them. As I reached the end of the file, I was sure I had imagined everything I had witnessed. Then the last

three pictures showed him coming into view. Magical, miraculous, my jaw dropped as I pressed print on

the small printer. A lifetime passed while I waited for the printer to finish spitting out the photos. With a

sigh, I paced back and forth a little. Waiting wasn’t something I did well.
I looked at the pictures without blinking. I had

captured the ray of light with Samuel in it. His body appeared like nothing more than an orb, or could even

have been explained away. In the next picture, his body formed, almost ghostly in appearance. Finally, in

the last one, Samuel landed on the ground. His wings had disappeared and the man I met was there.
I had seen it happen; it

was real. It was proof enough to me that I wasn’t some crazed lunatic. Samuel had come from the sky.

Questions still lingered in my mind. What was he doing there? How did I get to my car? There was

nothing on the file after the last three images I’d printed. Fear grew inside me the more I thought about

what could have happened on the way to my car. I cocouldn’tuite picture it, but I knew Samuel had saved

me. I didn’t know what from, and I didn’t know why, but he had. Why couldn’t I remember?

Welcome Jessica Page!!! Book tour for The Agency

Release Date: July 15 2014
Genre: (Adult Fiction) Paranormal Romance
I sat silently, watching Agent Doyle’s bicep flex beneath his tight shirt as he sipped his coffee. We were holed up in some twenty-four-hour diner he’d recommended, which worked for me because I was starting to get hungry now that the meds were working and my headache was subsiding. Since taking the meds the doctor had given me I was having a harder time not listening to others’ thoughts. Even with my full effort to keep from hearing them I was still getting traces of them here and there. I knew this was a touchy issue for him, so I figured I should let him know what was happening so he would try to shield the things he didn’t want me to know.
“Agent Doyle, I’m not quite feeling back to normal, and I wanted you to be warned that I might catch glimpses of your thoughts unintentionally. The medication is making it a little hard for me to control my ability at the moment, so please try to refrain from thinking about things you don’t want me to know.” I sat back, watching him closely. “I’m sorry,” I added, feeling guilty, which was a little absurd given the fact that I couldn’t help it at the moment. I might not agree with his approach to me, but I did totally understand his apprehension and dislike of me invading his privacy.
“First off, please call me Reid. Unless we are in an official capacity, then we will need to address each other formally as Agent. Secondly, you have nothing to be sorry for. I would rather you didn’t have access to my thoughts, but given the circumstances I understand and respect you for being honest with me about it. I know what it is like to have to work hard to maintain control over an ability, and managing like you have must be incredibly hard. I want you to know I appreciate and thank you for your efforts in blocking me out all the time. I’m sorry I’ve been so difficult in that regard, it’s just…well…there are certain things I’d rather you not know.”
I was trying to formulate some sort of reply but I kept coming up empty, I didn’t know what to say. It was odd enough having him talking to me at all, but for him to be nice and pay me compliments on top of everything else was like the equivalent of seeing a dog walk on its hind legs. You know it can happen, but it’s weird every time you see it. Lucky for me the waitress perkily interrupted, giving the distraction I was looking for.
“What can I get you?” She asked, chewing her gum annoyingly loud while perking up her “Ashley” nametag situated on her rather large chest. She was clearly trying to get Reid’s attention, which was probably something that I would have to deal with a lot given that he was incredibly sexy.
“Scrambled eggs and rye toast,” I ordered, watching her jot down my order on her notepad without so much as a glance in my direction. These were the moments I was thrilled I could read minds; I let my shield down, opening my mind to hers.
Sure enough, her thoughts were dripping of him. I could slip him a note letting him know where to find me after my shift. I mean, this girl he’s with is not even close to being cute enough for him.
I smirked, trying my hardest not to burst into laughter at her persistence, while Reid was watching me curiously.
“Lumberjack breakfast with sausages,” he offered without taking his eyes off me. She lingered by the table a bit longer, still trying to get his attention, but gave up mumbling something inaudible as she stalked back to the kitchen. He cocked an eyebrow at me. “What are you thinking about?”
“You have an admirer. She doesn’t feel that I’m up to your standards,” I replied, laughing.
He laughed this great, throaty laugh. “And you would know this how?”
“Oh please! You don’t need abilities to know that but…they do help,” I scoffed, smiling wickedly.
“Well she’s young. The young ones are always easier to get. But she’s also wrong.” He laughed again.
“Wrong about what?” I asked, curious and a little confused.
“About you not being attractive enough; that’s just jealousy talking.”
I felt my faced flush at his compliment. “So it is true, then, that vampires eat real food. I didn’t quite believe that when I read it in the vampire facts 101,” I rambled, trying to change the subject because the conversation was heading into uncomfortable territory, and I didn’t want to keep blushing like an idiot.
“Yes, we do eat regular food too. Although someone somewhere down the line had knowledge of our existence, the movies fabricated a lot of things. And before you ask, I can’t fly or turn into a bat.”
“What about sparkling? Is there any sparkling involved? Please tell me there is,” I teased, knowing full well that the vamps I’d met thought that was the most ridiculous thing they had ever heard.
“No sparkling. But I do glow in the dark,” he said, sending us both into a fit of laughter. It was sadly the first time in all the time I’d spent with him that we actually laughed together.

My name is Jessica Page, I’m an aspiring author who may or may not have a minor addiction to reading novels (both YA and adult fiction), watching movies and television series, especially ones that have vampires, werewolves, and/or steamy romances in the storyline.
I live in Northern Ontario Canada with my husband and pets where I spend my days working in a ‘pencil-pushing paradise’ but I find myself writing Adult and YA fiction whenever I have a free second which never quite feels like long enough… but given the fact that my retirement will not happen for a very long time I’ll take what I can get in the meantime. I’ve always been an imaginative person (and admittedly probably a little neurotic) with a passion for good stories and characters and I’m thrilled (and anxious) to finally be sharing my writing beyond my computer’s hard drive.

Friday Reflections- Robin Williams

Ok, so I was chilling at a frozen yogurt place yesterday near ISU campus and was impressed at the flock of students standing in line for some free goodies near one of the apartment complexes. I’ve never seen lines like that before, but it still took me back. I decided to pick up the Vidette and found the articles inside to be dry reading, but you know they’re still budding journalists, so we can’t be too hard on them for it.  However, in the back they had a poll or it was perhaps student opinions, or the opinion of one person even, but it really bothered me. This person was weighing in on Robin Williams and his suicide and stated that it was a fumble, that he had made a profound impact on the world and basically how dare he end his life.  This smacked of immaturity in my opinion. How in the world can you judge someone when you have no idea what he might have been feeling at the time. It was as if they would have been much happier had he died of a drug overdose. Seriously, what is wrong with the world? Someone dies from drugs or alcohol and it’s, oh that’s too bad, what a waste and they feel bad for them, but since it was a suicide, it’s taboo. I think people are not comfortable with the idea that someone so put together, famous, so successful could be suffering, for after all, what do you aspire to, if all those things still don’t bring you happiness?

Here’s the thing though. The best of us struggle with depression, no matter who we are, where we live, what color our skin is, or our sexual orientation. None of that is exempt from the void inside sometimes. It’s a silent predator and I’ve lost a few friends to it. I’ve wrestled with it in my lifetime too. You never know when it will strike again. It’s not like it announces itself before it enters your life. It’s more of a sneaky snook that climbs in the window and hides in the closet waiting to strike when the lights have all been extinguished. If you’ve never experienced it, be thankful. If you have, or are currently depressed, please keep the faith and try to fight your way out of it.

I will spend my time remembering the ways in which wonderful people who have come and gone have impacted my life. The beauty of his lifetime will far outshine his desperate end. Let him go. It’s sad that he could not find his peace on earth, but he will never be forgotten.

If you are lost and need some help try a LIFELINE. The link provided is to the Suicide Prevention Lifeline.
